Mirwaiz asks world bodies to take note of the matter

Srinagar, November 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has appealed to the international human rights organizations to take note of torture of several Kashmiri prisoners in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a tweet message said, physical torture of Kashmiri inmates in Tihar Jail is a clear violation of fundamental, human and legal rights of prisoners who have been subjected to severe beating by the jail authorities. He appealed to the UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty and International Committee of Red Cross to take strong note and intervene in this matter.

We appeal @UNHumanRights, @amnesty @ICRC to take strong note & intervene in this matter,” THE Mirwaiz said in his tweet.

On Monday, the Delhi High Court ordered an enquiry after an advocate Chinmay Kanojia, through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), said that his client Shahid Yusuf, son of Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin – currently being investigated by India’s National Investigation Agency and undergoing trial, was beaten up without any reason by the Tihar Jail staff.
