Srinagar, November 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik staged a sit-in protest in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, today, against attacks on Kashmiri prisoners in Delhi’s Tihar jail and Kathua jail of Jammu.

Scores of Hurriyat leader and activists staged a protest outside Jamia Masjid in Srinagar against the attacks.

The protesters were demanding the shifting of Kashmiri prisoners from Tihar and Kathua jails to the Valley.

As many as 18 Kashmiri prisoners, including the son of Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin, were thrashed by the staff of Tihar jail on the night of November 21.

Meanwhile, the patron of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM), Farida Bahenji, in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar jail and other jails of India and the occupied territory.

She condemned the thrashing of prisoners in Tihar jail adding that the ghastly act had put the lives of all Kashmiri political prisoners at risk.
