Hurriyat leaders express grief over demise of Sheikh Kabir

Srinagar, December 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Abdul Kabir Sheikh, the father of martyred prominent freedom leader, Abdul Hameed Sheikh, passed away in Srinagar.

Abdul Kabir Sheikh breathed his last at his residence in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Thursday night.

Thousands of people belonging to all walks of life including Hurriyat leaders and activists attended the funeral prayers of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Fazl Haq Qureshi, Musaddiq Aadil, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Mir Shahid Saleem, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Farida Bahenji, Zamruda Habib, Nahida Nasreen, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Democratic Freedom Party and High Court Bar Association expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Sheikh Abdul Kabir. They hailed the contribution and sacrifices of Sheikh Abdul Kabir to the ongoing resistance movement.

The leaders said that Sheikh Abdul Kabir had to endeavor the loss of his eldest son, remain in jails and torture centers and at times tolerate the incarceration of his wife and other children too. But, they added, all these hardships and oppressive measures failed to subdue his resolve and he continued with his humble social work, benevolence and patronage to needy people. They prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant patience to the bereaved family to bear this great loss.

On the other hand, delegations of various pro-freedom organizations visited the residence of the deceased in Batamaloo area of Srinagar and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family.
