Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has condemned the puppet authorities for preventing a seminar in Srinagar, today.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) had announced to hold the seminar titled ”Human Rights Violations in Kashmir and Criminal Silence of World Community” at the Hyderpora residence of Syed Ali Gilani in connection with the World Human Rights Day to be observed tomorrow (Sunday). Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and other prominent personalities were scheduled to speak in the seminar.

The Indian police and paramilitary personnel deployed outside the residence of Syed Ali Gilani disallowed the participants to enter the seminar venue. While Syed Ali Gilani is already under house detention, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house arrest at his residence in Nigeen on Thursday. Muhammad Yasin Malik has gone into hiding to evade arrest ahead of proposed march announced by the JRL towards the UN office in Sonawar on Sunday, the World Human Rights Day. However, the police since early morning did not allow anyone to enter the Hyderpora residence of the APHC Chairman.

The joint resistance leadership termed the action as state terrorism, saying that at a time when the world was observing Human Rights Day, however the puppet administration was reluctant to allow peaceful programme and forces in Kashmir were committing massive violations of human rights. It said that although UN had formulated a Charter in 1947 to safeguard basic rights pertaining to nations, however, this institution failed to provide and secure these rights.

Referring to atrocities perpetrated by Indian rulers and forces, the JRL said that till now more than two lakh people were brutally killed, however it was unfortunate that UN failed to halt the ongoing bloodshed in the territory. It said that it was India that took the case in the UN and pledged to ascertain the aspirations of people of Kashmir through plebiscite but denied and through coercive tactics continues its illogical and unconstitutional occupation.

Referring to the horrendous situations and unabated human rights violations, the joint leadership said that people in the territory were striving for its just rights which the India had dealt with by martyring tens and thousands of Kashmiris, subjecting over ten thousand people to enforced disappearances, seven thousand women molested, burying thousands in unmarked graves and hundreds blinded.

It said that political leaders were detained and lawless law, PSA slapped without applying any sense and any logic and impressed UN to take cognizance of worsening situations in state and facilitate the situation for seeking people’s verdict with regards to their political destiny.

The leadership however said that it was quite sad that instead of obliging its duty the member countries affiliated with UNO were taking their business interests into consideration, ignoring the grave situation resulted out of forced occupation. It reiterated the call for a complete shutdown and blackout tomorrow in view of International Human Rights Day.
