Srinagar, December 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, police detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and foiled his attempt to lead a march from Lal Chowk towards the UN Observers’ office at Sonawar Srinagar, today.

Muhammad Yasin Malik along with scores of his supporters tried to march towards Sonawar from Maisuma. However, police swung into action and detained him. He was lodged in Kothi Bagh police station.

Malik had gone into hiding to evade his arrest by the police. Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) had called for a march towards the UN office today to coincide with the International Day of Human Rights. Women from the area protested against his arrest and raised pro-freedom slogans.

Police also arrested Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along many activists in Islamabad district.
