Several Hurriyat leaders, activists detained in IOK

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and Islamabad town, today, to prevent a march called by the Joint Resistance Leadership.

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had announced to hold a public gathering at Lal Chowk in Islamabad town and asked the people to massively participate in it. The march was aimed at condemning the stepped up Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory and expressing solidarity with the people of south Kashmir who are facing the worst kind of Indian brutalities.

The puppet authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and Islamabad town and deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength across the territory to prevent people from conducting the march. All entry and exit points of the Islamabad town were sealed. Indian police arrested Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from outside his residence in Srinagar after he defied restrictions and tried to march towards Islamabad town. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has condemned the unleashing of a reign of terror across whole valley by Indian forces and police.

JKLF Zonal President, Noor Muhammad Kalwal in a statement issued in Srinagar said curfew, restrictions, spree of arrests and other oppressive measures are example of Kashmir being a police state.

He said to ban a peaceful political programme whole valley especially Islamabad town had been turned into a battleground where Indian forces and police used every tactic and excessive force to stop JRL public rally. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the President of Anjuman Shari Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to impress upon the UN to take steps for settlement of Kashmir dispute.

Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar appreciated the OIC for declaring East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Magam town of Budgam district, today, to mark the anniversary of a youth killed by Indian troops a decade ago during protests.

The youth, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, was killed after the troops opened fire to disperse the protesters demanding a college for the area.

A local resident, Idrees Ahmad said that as the protests were spreading, the troops opened fire and a bullet hit Zahoor Ahmad and he was killed. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Indian police arrested the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, as he attempted to defy restrictions to march towards Islamabad town where the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called a public rally, today.

A posse of Indian policemen deployed outside Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s Nigeen residence, where he was under house arrest, took him into custody when he tried to defy the restrictions. The Mirwaiz was lodged at Nigeen police station. »

New Delhi, December 15 (KMS): A special court of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) heard the bail plea of Kashmiri photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf, in New Delhi.

The 20-year-old Kamran had pleaded for bail before the court of Poonam A Bamba in a false case registered against him.

The defence counsel of Kamran argued for more than 90 minutes, impressing upon the judge that there was nothing against Kamran, so he must be released. »

Hurriyat leaders and activists including Muhammad Azam Inqilabi, Muhammad Musadiq Aadil, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Bashir Ahmed Butt, Abdul Rasheed Mughlu, Muhammad Siddique Shah, Shahid Kashmiri and Altaf Andrabi paid rich tributes to the Sofi Akbar. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has hailed the declaration by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) of East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar said that he would be writing to the OIC Secretary General in the coming days on behalf of the people of Kashmir for taking such a historic decision. “We are happy. The OIC declaration is welcome but now it should be endorsed by other countries,” he added. »

Srinagar, December 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the arrest of Hurriyat leaders, police raids on their residences and harassment of their family members.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the puppet authorities placed Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Muhammad Ashraf Laya under house arrest while Indian police arrested and raided the residences of several other leaders including Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Muhammad Yasin Attai and Syed Imtiyaz Haider. »
