Srinagar, December 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, has paid rich tributes to noted liberation leaders, Sofi Muhammad Akbar and Shamas-ul-Haq, on their death anniversaries.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The conscious nations can never afford to forget the sacrifices of brave sons of their soil.”

He said that Sofi Muhammad Akbar opposed the treason and betrayal by the tall leaders of his time and chose to live a modest life away from the glare and glamour of power.

He said that Shamas-ul-Haq was a renowned scholar who chose to lead from front the movement for Islam and freedom. He had already rejected the philosophy and modules of secularism, socialism and secular democracy and chosen the path of hardships to reach his much cherished goal, he maintained.

The APHC Chairman said, the best way to recall and remember the contribution of these brave people of Kashmir is to reaffirm the pledge to honour their sacrifices and not to be cow down before the Indian oppression.

Meanwhile, senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement in Srinagar paid rich tributes to Shams-ul-Haq, Jamal Aafgani and other Kashmiri martyrs. He also paid homage to a youth of Magam, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, who was killed by forces on December 5, 2007.

Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsaan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Ghulam Nabi War, Zafar Akbar Butt, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Rauf Ahmed Khan, Molvi Mushtaq, Merajuddin and Wasim Ahmed in their statements in Srinagar paid tributes to Islamic scholar and Hurriyat leader Shams-ul-Haq on his martyrdom anniversary at graveyard Eidgah, Srinagar.
