Srinagar, December 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has allowed a delegation of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) to visit different jails of the occupied territory and India to take stock of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees.

The HCBA has selected a 22-member delegation for the visit to jails which is expected to take place during vacation in High Court.

In a petition, HCBA had informed the court that it had received numerous letters from detainees, under-trial prisoners and convicts lodged in various jails about their miserable plight.

“The purpose of the visit is to meet and interact with the detainees to know their problems and provide necessary legal aid and assistance under law to them,” the petition stated.

Meanwhile, the HCBA spokesman in a statement in Srinagar welcomed the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on Jerusalem, calling upon the US to drop its recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

He described the resolution as a moral victory of Palestinian people and a setback to the American imperialism and hegemony in the world.
