Srinagar, December 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the family of a Kashmiri businessman lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail has said that he is being denied medical care by the jail authorities.

The family of Zahoor Watali in a statement issued in Srinagar said that due to denial of medical facilities to him his health was deteriorating day-by-day.

Watali has been lodged in Tihar Jail following his arrest by India’s National Investigating Agency four months ago in a fake case registered against him.

“He is losing weight day-by-day because of severe health ailments,” the family said, adding that the NIA court had directed the Tihar Jail authorities to get Watali treated at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). “He was taken to AIIMS 15 times but he is not being treated there,” they said.

The family said that they have moved an application before the NIA court for treatment of Watali in a private hospital, but no heed was being paid to the application.

The families of some other Kashmiri detainees at Tihar Jail also said that no medical facility was being provided to their relatives.
