Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops martyred three youths including a teen age boy and injured several innocent people in Shopian district on Wednesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth were martyred during a siege and search operation in Chaigund area of the district. The martyred teen age boy was identified as Shakir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Qalampora area of Shopian. The injured persons including two girls have been shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment. »

Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has said that India has no right to celebrate its Republican day as they have occupied Jammu and Kashmir with its military might and its presence has tormented all ethics.

The leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement in Srinagar today appealed to Kashmiri people to observe 26th January as a Black Day and boycott all celebrations. The leaders asserted that India claims to be a large democracy in the world but virtually stands exposed in Jammu and Kashmir and as it is trampling all basic and fundamental rights since the past seven decades. »

Complete shutdown in Handwara tomorrow

Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe the Indian Republic Day, on Friday, as Black Day to remind the world community that India continues to deny the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination.

Call for the observance of the day has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The day will be marked with a complete strike in occupied Kashmir and anti-India demonstrations and rallies in world capitals. The leaders in a joint statement in Srinagar, today, said, India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day as it is occupying Jammu and Kashmir with its military might. »

Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a meeting of Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, was held under the patronage of its President Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to discuss issues regarding safety and upkeep of the historic mosque.

The meeting was attended by all members and office-bearers of the Anjuman. The meeting discussed all measures needed for the security and safety of the masjid. »

Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has condemned the continued illegal detention of party Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.

A JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Yasin Malik was arrested along with another JKLF leader Ghulam Muhammad Butt and lodged at Srinagar Central Jail on a four-day judicial remand. He is still languishing in the jail. Police, yesterday, secured a fresh judicial remand against JKLF chairman and others extending their custody till 27th January.” »

Washington, January 24 (KMS): The Secretary General of World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, has expressed gratitude to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, for encouraging both India and Pakistan to address the issue of Kashmir through ialogue.

The UNs spokesperson of the Secretary General said on January 22, 2018, “We’re obviously aware. We’re following this… what’s been going on, really for the last 10 days, and I think our… again, the Secretary General would encourage both sides (India & Pakistan) to address any outstanding issues through dialogue.” However, it was disappointing when the office of the Secretary General kept repeating the mantra that he will mediate in the dispute only if both India and Pakistan agree. Predictably, the Indian government in so many words has conveyed to the Secretary General, mind his own business and not to intervene in the dispute. We are amazed that the Secretary General took the ‘no’ of India as an answer. »

Srinagar, January 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people hailing from Gujjar-Bakerwal community assembled outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Islamabad town to demand the arrest of culprits behind rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl, Aasifa, in Kathua district.

Giving the puppet administration an ultimatum of 24 hours, the protestors warned that delay in action against the culprits would force the community members to come out on streets. »

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar criticized the puppet administration for its callous and careless approach towards the incident, and said instead of taking swift action against culprits, the people protesting against the gruesome incident were tortured and arrested, which illustrated the bigoted mindset of the authorities. »

The residents of Lassipora area of Pulwama talking to media men said that the personnel of 55-Rashtriya Rifles while beating the people without any provocation also didn’t spare the local headman and preacher. They said that the troops also arrested four people and snatched mobile phones of several others. »
