Clashes break out in Pulwama

Srinagar, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a peaceful protest rally was taken out in Srinagar, today, to condemn fresh spree of killings and frequent cordon and search operations by Indian forces in South and North Kashmir.

The protest march was carried out from Aabiguzar to Lalchowk in Srinagar. Call for the march was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhamamd Yasin Malik. The protesters staged a sit-in at Press Colony. Resistance leaders including Showkat Bakhshi, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Omar Aadil Dar, Bashir Ahmad Boya, Farooq Ahmad Sodagar, Muhammad Rafiq Shah and Bashir Ahmad Butt participated in the protest. »

Jammu, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference visited the Hirangar area of Kathua district to express solidarity with parents of eight-year-old Asifa, who was raped and murdered by unknown persons, recently.

The delegation comprised Yasmeen Raja, Mir Shahid Saleem, Haji Mohammad Azam, Syed Ghulam Nabi Shah and Vinay Kumar. »

Srinagar, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, rows of mourners continued visiting Ganowpora and Balpora areas of Shopian district to offer comfort to the families of the two students, martyred in firing by Indian troops on protesters in the district.

The martyred students, Javaid Ahmad and Suhail Javaid were buried in Pakistani flags at their ancestral villages in the district. Thousands of people participated in their funerals at their respective villages. »

Srinagar, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, clashes erupted in Pulwama district, today, after youth staged a massive protest against the killing of two innocent civilians at the hands of Indian forces in neighboring Shopian district.

Youth staged protest against the killing of Javaid Ahmad and Suhail Javaid in firing by Indian troops on peaceful protesters in Ganowpora area of Shopian on Saturday night. The troops used force and fired teargas shells on the protesting youth. The clashes were going on in the area when last reports came in. »

Srinagar, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader and the Jammu and Kashmir People’s League (JKPL) Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has stressed the need for peaceful political settlement of Kashmir dispute.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with a party delegation visited Peerbagh, Hyderpora, where he expressed solidarity with the family of party vice chairman, Syed Aijaz Rehmani over the sad demise of his nephew, Syed Tanzeel Ahmad Shah. »

Srinagar, January 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, while working in the fields at Chermarg village in Shopian district, some suspicious object, believed to be Indian army’s landmine, exploded causing injuries to three persons, police said.

Police identified the injured as Ghulam Nabi , 55 years, Zubair Ahmad , 18 years and Umar Farooq , 19 years. »

APHC leaders Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi and Mohammad Yousuf Naqash in their statements issued in Srinagar said India has given its forces free licence to kill and oppress Kashmiri people to crush their popular sentiment of freedom and silence their voices. »
