Shutdown in Hajin, Tral against killings

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has urged the international human rights organizations to play their role in securing immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners, facing endless agonies in different jails in and outside of Kashmir Valley.

The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said Kashmiri political prisoners are even deprived of the basic facilities guaranteed under the Geneva Conventions including fair trial. The leaders termed the decision of the authorities to shift prisoners from Central Jail Srinagar to various jails outside the Valley as highly autocratic and condemnable. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown continued in Hajin and Tral areas of Pulwama and Bandipora districts, today, against the killing of two youth by Indian forces.

The strike in Hajin continued on the 2nd day, today, against the killing of a youth in the firing of Indian troops during a cordon and search operation at Bon Mohalla in Hajin on Monday. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): Senior APHC leader and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has revealed before a court in Delhi that he is being mocked by the authorities for his stand on the Kashmir dispute.

A DFP spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said, “Shabbir Shah, who is lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail, was brought to a court in Delhi where he told the judge that whenever he is taken to any hospital for check-up, the health authorities ask him sarcastic questions that he is the person who wants aazadi (freedom), he wants freedom from India etc.” The party condemned the incident. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a local court has granted absolute bail to a policeman involved in the killing of a teenager, Wamiq Farooq, during 2010 uprising.

The policeman, Muhammad Akram Dar, had been at large on a conditional interim bail till 26 February 2018. He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Wamiq, a 7th class student, was killed after a teargas shell fired by the Indian police hit his head on 31 January 2010 near Ghani Memorial Stadium in Srinagar. »

Jammu, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, local media fraternity, members of non-governmental organizations and human rights activists took out a candle march in Ramban town in support of the Kathua rape and murder victim, Aasifa Bano.

During the march, the people condemned the brutal rape and murder of the minor girl and demanded stern punishment to the culprits including a special police officer. The protesters carried placards and banners expressing solidarity with the victim and asking for a speedy investigation in the case. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) has filed a rejoinder before the Human Rights Commission of the territory in connection with 132 cases of enforced disappearances in the Pir Panchal area of Jammu region.

Of these 132 cases of disappearance, Deputy Commissioner Ramban has accepted the disappearance of 112 only. The JKCCS had filed case in December 2011. »

The resistance leaders in a statement issued in Srinagar said these prisoners are deprived of the basic facilities guaranteed under the Geneva Conventions and are also not produced in the respective courts for trial. They said even the orders of the court with regard to prisoners are completely disregarded as prisoners are suffering immense problems including mental and physical torture. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, rejecting the police version on the death of a detained youth, Mushtaq Ahmed Chopan, has termed it a custodial killing.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar expressing profound grief and sorrow over the death of Mushtaq Ahmed Chopan said that he died in police custody and police version about his death was unacceptable. »

Srinagar, February 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Aasiya Andrabi, has paid homage to the people of Hajin for their bravery and determination towards the ongoing freedom movement.

Aasiya Andrabi in a statement in Srinagar condemned the assertion of a senior officer of Indian police that action would be taken against those who participated in the funeral prayers of a youth martyred by Indian troops in Hajin and arranged his last rites. She said that it reflected the frustration of the puppet authorities. »
