Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) has demanded fair and time-bounded investigation in the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua.

The JKCCS in a statement in Srinagar said that the role of the police and the BJP’s local member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly in particular had raised serious suspicions of the intention in shielding the perpetrators and polarising the communities.

Thousands attend funeral of martyred boy

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a march will be conducted towards Shopian town, tomorrow, to register protest against the surge in civilian killings by Indian troops in the territory.

Call for the march has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The resistance leaders have urged the people to converge at Shopian in large numbers and offer congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid in the town, tomorrow. They have announced that after congregational prayers, a rally will be conducted from Jamia Masjid to the main chowk Shopian to express solidarity with the families of five civilians who have been killed in the brutal actions of Indian troops in the district. »

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has expressed serious concern over the miserable plight of illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in different jails.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that as per reports, the ill-treatment meted out to the detainees belonging to Jammu region was very distressed and worrying. He strongly denounced the jail authorities for their callous and brutal behaviour and said that they had virtually turned the jails like that of infamous Abu Ghraib and detention period of the mates was being prolonged on one pretext or the other. »

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have placed the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Aasiya Andrabi, under house arrest.

A DeM spokesperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Indian police raided the residence of Aasiya Andrabi, last night, and tried to arrest her, despite the fact that she is suffering from various ailments. However, she said that the police bid was foiled by Fehmeeda Sofi, the associate of Aasiya Andrabi. Later, the authorities put the DeM Chairperson under house detention, she added. »

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference including Yasmeen Raja and Davinder Singh, today, visited the residences of martyred Rayees Ahmed and a nine-year-old Musharraf Fayyaz in Shopian and expressed solidarity with their families.

Yasmeen Raja and Devinder Singh addressing mourners on the occasion said that the Kashmiri people had been facing the Indian atrocities for the past several decades. Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Ajas area of Bandipora district, today, to mark the martyrdom anniversary of four civilians who were killed by Indian troops in 1992.

All shops and business establishments are closed while very thin traffic is plying on roads.

The locals said four people, Abdul Rasheed Ganai, Abdul Raheem Rathar, Muhammad Sultan Lone and an 18-year-old student, Muhammad Maqbool Rather were killed and thirteen others were injured on this day in 1992 after the troops of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on them. They said that it was Shab-i-Meraaj when the incident occurred. »

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a 10-year-old boy, Musharraf Fayaz Najar, has succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for a week at a hospital in Srinagar, today, taking the death toll in the Shopian area to four.

Musharraf Fayaz was critically injured on January 25 after a shell exploded when the people were clearing the debris of a house destroyed by Indian troops with mortar shells and explosive material at Chaigund in Shopian. The troops had destroyed the house and killed three youth during a siege and search operation in the area on the previous night. »
