Srinagar, February 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Shada Banoo shouldered the coffin of her 10-year-old lone son from the funeral ground to the graveyard in Shopian’s Datmudoor village.
Musharraf Fayaz was critically injured on January 25 after a shell exploded when the people were clearing the debris of a house destroyed by Indian troops with mortar shells and explosive material at Chaigund in Shopian. He was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed in Datmudoor, where several women fainted while others wailed when the body of Musharraf was being carried towards the graveyard.
Two rounds of funeral prayers were offered for the boy by tens of hundreds of mourners including resistance leaders. Dozens of school children and classmates of Musharraf were also seen wailing for their friend.
Close relatives of the family said that Musharraf was the lone son of his parents. He has left behind his parents and two sisters, aged 13 and 6.
Classmates and school teachers of Musharraf said that he was famous for reciting Naat.
“He was bestowed with a melodious voice,” Manzoor Ahmad, a teacher, said.
