Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for complete shutdown on 9th February and 11th February against the hanging of prominent Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that on the martyrdom day of Muhammad Afzal Guru Friday, 9th February, peaceful protests would be staged across the territory to press the demand for return of the mortal remains of these martyrs. »

Police arrest Yasin Malik in raid on JKLF office

Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has appealed to the Secretary General of the United Nations to take notice of the provocative statements of Indian leaders, use influence to halt the bloodshed in the occupied territory and take steps for settlement of Kashmir dispute as per relevant UN resolutions.

Syed Ali Gilani while reacting to the recent statement of Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Indian leaders were following their bigoted dogma and were creating war euphoria in the region. Rajnath in his statement had said that the Indian government had directed its forces to shoot limitless bullets against Pakistani forces on the Line of Control. Gilani said New Delhi’s narratives reflect negative and egoistic approach. He emphasized that no amount of incarcerations and torture could dissuade the Kashmiri people from pursuing their inalienable right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) held programmes in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day in various areas of the territory.

A DeM spokesperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “As Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed across Pakistan and around the world, the DeM also observed the day in Jammu and Kashmir.” The statement said that the DeM activists raised flags and banners and marched at several places. »

New York, February 06 (KMS): Braving freezing temperatures, Kashmiris and Pakistanis, who were joined by Sikhs, staged a demonstration in New York’s Times Square denouncing Indian atrocities in Kashmir and calling on the United Nations to honour its pledge to grant the Kashmiris their right of self-determination.

Raising vociferous anti-India slogans and waving placards, a large number of people turned up in the iconic square on a working day to show solidarity with the struggling Kashmiri people. »

A contingent of Indian police broke into the JKLF office at Aabi Guzar and arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik and a party activist, Ghulam Muhammad Dar. Besides, the police ransacked the office and damaged record. »

DIG Ghulam Hassan Butt told media that two policemen were injured in an attack on a police party in Srinagar on Tuesday. “One of them succumbed while the other one is being treated at the hospital,” he said. »
