JRL calls for shutdown on martyrdom anniversaries of Butt, Guru

Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for complete shutdown on 9th February and 11th February against the hanging of prominent Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that on the martyrdom day of Muhammad Afzal Guru Friday, 9th February, peaceful protests would be staged across the territory to press the demand for return of the mortal remains of these martyrs.

They said that on 11th February, the martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt, a joint memorandum would be submitted to UN office at Sonawar in Srinagar asking the World Body to impress upon India to return the mortal remains of Maqbool But and Afzal Guru.

The leaders said that the struggle and sacrifices rendered by Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru for the Kashmir cause were glorious chapters of the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.
