Srinagar, February 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has termed the shifting of political detainees from the Kashmir Valley to the jails in Jammu as the worst example of state terrorism.
An APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the puppet authorities are frustrated and have lost all moral and ethical values. “We strongly condemn the shifting of political leaders and activists including Raees Ahmed Mir, Nasir Abdullah Ganai, Danish Ahmed, Hakeem Showkat and Masood Ahmed to Hiranagar, Udhampur, Kot Bhalwal, Kathua and Udhampur jails,” he said.
The spokesman also condemned the arrest of APHC leaders and workers including Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Umar Aadil Dar and Syed Imtiaz Haider to prevent them from participating in various programmes announced by the Joint Resistance Leadership in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation leaders, Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt.
Terming the shifting of the detainees to the Jammu jails as political vendetta, the spokesman said, “It is unjustified and unconstitutional. As per Indian Supreme Court’s ruling a detainee is to be lodged near to his home locality or the state he belongs to. Kashmir is the lone place where the people are being kept under custody thousands of miles away from their homes and this makes their families suffer more.” He appealed to the International Committee of Red Cross and other human rights organizations to come to the rescue of the Kashmiri detainees and take notice of the lawlessness prevailing in the occupied territory.
