Srinagar, February 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested several resistance leaders and activists after subjecting them to brute force during a protest rally in Srinagar, today, against the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl, Aasifa Bano, in Heera Nagar area of Hindu-dominated Kathua district of Jammu region.

A large number of Hurriyat leaders and activists assembled at Aabi Guzar in Srinagar and tried to take out the rally towards Lal Chowk under the banner of Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. However, Indian police swung into action and took Muhammad Yasin Malik and other Hurriyat leaders including Yasmeen Raja, Showkat Ahmed Bakhshi, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed, Umar Aadil Dar and Parveena Ahangar into custody. »

Srinagar, February 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has strongly condemned the killing of an elderly civilian, Syed Habibullah of Soibugh in Badgam by the Indian forces’ personnel.

The HCBA at its Executive Committee meeting in Srinagar said that the Indian forces had no reason to kill the innocent civilian in a barbaric and brutal manner as he was a mentally-challenged person. »

Srinagar, February 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has termed construction of a gateway to downtown Srinagar as a cosmetic measure saying that the move will not yield anything without addressing the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a twitter message said, “Attracting people to downtown by building some gateway, while for decades resorting to revengeful and dictatorial measures of repeatedly subjecting the residents of the area to curfews, restrictions, harassment and what not is cosmetic measures without addressing basic issue will not yield much.” »

Srinagar, February 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, following surge in the attacks on Indian Army camps, most of the police stations in Srinagar are being fortified.

The Site Engineer at Shaheed Gunj Police Station told media that contracts have been given to various agencies all across Srinagar for this purpose.

Srinagar, February 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has termed the report released by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Central Jail, Srinagar, as illogical, ridiculous and a bundle of lies.

The resistance leaders in a statement in Srinagar said that following the recent escape of a prisoner from SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, the puppet rulers, Indian agencies and police had started penalizing political prisoners and other inmates especially those lodged at the Srinagar Central Jail. “After a series of false and concocted reports by some journalists, biased media channels and papers, many innocent political detainees have been shifted to the jails outside the Kashmir Valley. To tighten the noose on other inmates ridiculous reports are being framed and spread through media and other means,” they deplored. »
