Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the rape and murder of Aasifa at Heeranagar in Kathua has created an atmosphere of fear in the area.

Aasifa’s family members said that children of Gujjar community had stopped grazing their cattle in forests while only a few go to the schools after the incident that occurred last month.

They said that the children, too, were apprehensive that they might also be attacked following the uneasy calm prevailing in the area. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, three Indian troops were killed in a snow avalanche in Kupwara district.

Police said that the avalanche hit a post of Indian army in Machil area of the district, resulting in the killing of three soldiers. The rescue operation is on to recover the bodies of the soldiers, the police said. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in district Shopian on the tenth consecutive day, today, against the recent killing of innocent civilians by the Indian troops.

All shops, business establishments, government and private offices are closed in the district while transport is off the roads.

Shutdown is being observed in the district since January 25 against the killing of seven people including a 10-year-old boy in the brutal actions of the Indian troops in the district. »

Srinagar, February 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, amid severe restrictions in Srinagar, the puppet authorities, today, disallowed the Friday congregational prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

All roads leading to the Jamia Masjid were sealed with concertina wires and barricades while all main gates were locked to prevent people from offering prayers at the historic mosque. »

Gilani, Mirwaiz, Malik and other leaders detained

Srinagar, February 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar and Shopian, today, and arrested several Hurriyat leaders and activists including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to prevent a march towards Shopian town against the surge in civilian killings by Indian troops.

Call for the march was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to express solidarity with the families of the civilians who were recently killed in the brutal actions of the troops in Shopian district. The resistance leaders had also announced to hold a rally from Jamia Masjid in Shopian to the main chowk in the town. However, the puppet authorities imposed stringent restrictions in Srinagar and Shopian to prevent people from converging at the Jamia Masjid while all entry and exit points of the southern town were sealed. »

Srinagar, February 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, outside their residences in Srinagar, today, after they defied their house detention and tried to march towards Shopian town.

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had called for a march towards Shopian, today, against the surge in civilian killings. The puppet authorities imposed stringent restrictions in Srinagar and Shopian to prevent people from conducting the march. All entry and exit points of Shopian town have been sealed.

As soon as Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq came out of their residences in Srinagar and tried to march towards Shopian, the police stopped them and took them into custody. The police lodged Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Nigeen police station while placed Syed Ali Gilani again under house arrest. »
