Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred four Kashmiris in Shopian district, this evening.

Witnesses and reports said that the troops opened fire on a car near a military camp in Pahnoo area of the district, resulting in the death of four persons. One dead body was identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar. »

Efforts to shield rapist SPO deplored

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has condemned the shifting of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr Mohammad Shafi Shariati and others from Srinagar central jail to jails in Jammu terming the move as manifestation of blatant political vengeance.

The leadership in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that the puppet authorities were shifting the political prisoners outside the jails of the Kashmir valley to appease their masters in New Delhi. The leaders described the act as a kind of state terrorism, and urged international human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Asia Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to play their role for mitigation of the sufferings of the Kashmiri detainees. The JRL called for a complete shutdown across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday against Indian authorities’ inhuman, undemocratic and revengeful attitude towards the political prisoners. »

New York, March 04 (KMS): Former senior advisor to the United Nations Secretary General, Ambassador Yusuf Buch, has elucidated that if there had been popular support in Kashmir for joining India, the dispute over Kashmir would have lasted for a year or so at the most. It would have dissolved long ago.

Ambassador Buch said this at a meeting at his residence in New York with Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General, Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum.

“The situation in Kashmir has nothing to do with passivity or docility in the Kashmiri character – that myth has been shattered now. Kashmiris hardly showed themselves as resigned to Indian occupation. Some discontent notwithstanding, Kashmir never felt itself to be part of India before 1947 and feels even less so after its forcible seizure by the Indian troops. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo and Mohammad Shafi Shariati were shifted from Srinagar Central Jail to jails in Jammu.

Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, the president of Muslim Deeni Mahaz, was shifted to District Jail, Udhampur while Mohammad Shafi Shariati to sub-jail, Hiranagar in Kathua district. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), an amalgam of various trade and employee associations have announced to launch agitation in case puppet administration fails to deliver justice to Kathua rape and murder victim girl, Aasifa.

The EJCC spokesperson, Aijaz Ahmad Khan addressing a press conference in Srinagar, said that the brutal and heinous crime had shocked and shaken the conscious of every human being. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) came down heavily on police for failing to complete investigations into the custodial killing of Abdul Hamid Ganai despite the passage of 15 years.

The Commission directed the Superintendent of Police of Ganderbal to remain present before it on April 2. The Assistant Superintendent of Police, who was present before the Commission, couldn’t explain the report filed by Senior Superintendent of Police of Ganderbal. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, three people, including an elderly man, were arrested in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during nocturnal raids by Indian forces.

Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Umar Dar, Gowhar Ahmad Parray and Sonaullah Butt (75).

The forces conducted arrests in reaction to protests that followed after the killing of two youth in Hajin last week. The family members of Butt said they were surprised over his arrest. “He suffers from a couple of ailments, and remains usually ill. He was detained unnecessarily,” said Mohammad Afzal, his son.

Police official from Hajin police station feigned ignorance about the arrests.
