Multiple rounds of funerals held in Shopian

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown marked by curfew-like restrictions was observed, today, against the killing of six civilians in firing by Indian troops on a private vehicle in Shopian district.

Call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops, business establishments and schools were closed while traffic was off the road. The authorities had snapped mobile and high-speed Internet services across the Valley. Indian troops had martyred these Kashmiris near a military camp in Pahnoo area of Shopian district, last night. »

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one more youth in Pulwama district.

The troops killed the youth during a siege and search operation at Lethpora of Awantipora area in the district.

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik today called for a march to Shopian on Wednesday March 7, for a congregational condolence of six civilian martyred in Indian army firing.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, the JRL said that already a protest strike call has been given for the same day against shifting of Kashmiri inmates from Srinagar Central jail to Jammu jails.

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while condemning the civilian killings in Shopian has said that Indian army is spreading propaganda and lies over the tragic incident.

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, today, participated in funerals of five people, who were martyred in firing by Indian troops at Pahnoo Shopian district.

Six rounds of funerals were held at Malikgund in Shopian for martyred youth, Muhammad Shahid Khan. Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised as thousands of people including women and children accompanied funeral processions. »

Srinagar, March 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, speakers at a seminar in Srinagar demanded justice for an eight-year-old girl, Aasifa, who was raped and murdered by a special police officer in Kathua district, last month.

Addressing the seminar telephonically, a Jammu-based lawyer, Deepika Singh Rajawat, who represents victim family in court, said that anti-social elements with vested interests were communalizing the rape and murder of the eight-year-old girl causing hurdles in the investigation. »

Brussels, March 05 (KMS): A conference, “A woman’s battle in conflict zones” will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels next week.

The conference would be organized by tKashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) with support of MEPs Wajid Khan, Julie Ward and Dr Sajjad Karim.

Senior academics, members of civil society, representatives of European institutions and NGOs will be speakers of the conference to be held on March 8, the International Women’s Day. »
