APDP holds sit-in against custodial disappearances

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has appealed to the international community and the UN to take cognizance of the bloodshed at the hands of Indian troops in the territory and initiate necessary measures for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar deplored that Indian authorities were violating and trampling in the occupied territory all the norms laid in the human rights charter. He said that the Kashmiri people had been striving for their right to self-determination for the last over 70 years but New Delhi instead of fulfilling its commitment was resorting to brute approach to suppress their just struggle. The APHC spokesman in a statement strongly denounced the puppet authorities for not allowing people to visit Syed Ali Gilani at his residence where he is under house arrest for the past eight years. »

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the members of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) held a demonstration at Pratap Park in Srinagar, today, with everyone having one question: ‘Where are our loved ones?’

The APDP activists held demanded of the puppet administration to reveal the whereabouts of their relatives who have been subjected to custodial disappearance by Indian troops and police during the last twenty eight years. The protesters included six-year-old kid to an eighty-year-old. »

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a probe conducted by the police into the custodial murder of a lecturer, Shabbir Ahmad Mangoo, in August 2016 has held 23 Indian army personnel responsible for his death.

Shabbir Ahmad Mangoo, a 30-year-old college lecturer, was beaten to death by Indian Army personnel in Sharshali village of Pulwama district on the night of August 17, 2016.

The police have sought a sanction to prosecute the army personnel as required under the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). »

Jammu, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, shutdown amid forceful protests is being observed in Kishtwar town, today, against the murder of a 45-year-old civilian, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Dar.

Ishtiyaq Ahmad Dar was shot dead by some persons behind Islamia Faridiya School in the town last evening.

Shops and other business establishments in the area are closed to protest against the murder. »

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested in Srinagar a delegation of the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The delegation led by Hilal Ahmed War was on its way to Shopian to express solidarity with the families of the civilians who were recently martyred by Indian troops.

The delegates left for Shopian from the Hurriyat forum head office. When they reached Sonawar, Indian police intercepted them, took them into custody and lodged them at Rambagh police station. »

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have booked the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir’s president for Islamabad district, Mir Hafeezullah, under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), and shifted to Amphala jail in Jammu from Achabal police station.

After his arrest in November 2016, Hafeezullah was slapped with the PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. »

Geneva, March 10 (KMS): The International Human Rights Association of American Minorities (IHRAAM) organised a seminar on the sidelines of the 37th session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva to discuss the challenges including geo-political, economic and military posturing that severely affect the desire of people both recognized and unrecognized to exercise their right to self-determination.

The seminar was chaired by Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, the permanent representative of IHRAAM. In his opening remarks he contextualized the status of global human rights in different parts of the world. His entire narrative revolved around the situation in Kashmir. »

Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, in yet another demonstration of communal harmony, unity and brotherhood, hundreds of Muslims gathered in Noorpora area of Tral and attended the final rites of a local Pandit woman.

Eighty years old, Kamlavati, who lived in a Muslim-dominated area, died at her home during wee hours on Friday. As soon as the news about her demise spread in the area, hundreds of Muslims including men, women and children rushed to her house. The Muslim community helped the family perform the last rites of Kamlavati as per Hindu rituals. »
