Srinagar, March 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a number of 2014 flood victims are yet to receive financial aid released by the government of India in 2015.
Four years after the devastating floods hit occupied Kashmir, scores of flood victims say they have taken loans from banks for reconstruction or repair of their houses.
Various areas where flood victims are yet to receive aid include Shivpora, Sonwar, Dalgate, Basant Bagh in Srinagar; Humhama, Narkara in Budgam; and Awantipora in Pulwama.
The left-out flood victims have been visiting the authorities concerned for the past three years and have received only assurances but no help.
Muhammad Abbas Butt of Yatoo Mohalla Shivpora, a flood victim, has been visiting the authorities concerned for the past three years to get his assistance announced by the Indian government. He said there are a lot of people who visit offices to know the status of their cases but have been receiving hallow assurances in return.
Ansar Ahmad Mir of Sonwar, whose residential house was severely damaged in the 2014 floods, said that his file was ready in the Deputy Commissioner’s office. “But there is no progress and I am visiting the office thrice a week to know the status of my case.
