Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a special police officer (SPO) of Indian police was killed and his wife sustained injuries by unidentified attackers in Islamabad district on Thursday evening.

A police official said that unknown gunmen fired at Police (SPO) at his residence in Katsoo village of the district. He died on the spot, while his wife got injured. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called for removal of armed forces’ camps from civilian areas, terming them a source of nuisance and harassment for locals.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “We support demand of people for removal of these camps which have come in every nook and corner in Kashmir.” »

Tral shuts ahead of Sharma’s visit

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the United Nations to take notice of the sacrifices being offered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir to secure their right to self-determination, as envisaged by the Security Council resolutions.

Syed Ali Gilani while addressing an APHC executive body meeting at Hyderpora in Srinagar said that pro-India Kashmiri political parties were responsible for the genocide carried out by Indian forces in the territory. He said although India has virtually turned the Valley into a slaughterhouse, history stands witness to the fact that righteous movements cannot be suppressed by the use of force. The meeting expressed serious concern over the plight of hundreds of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails including Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Abdul Ahad Parra has agreed that the organizations pursuing global agenda have nothing to do with the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdul Ahad Parra who was recently released from an Indian jail said this during a meeting with the newly-elected Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in Srinagar, today. He discussed with Sehrai the latest situation in the occupied territory. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tral town of Pulwama district was turned into a military garrison on Thursday ahead of Indian government’s special representative for Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma’s scheduled visit.

Indian troops were deployed in strength across the town before the visit. The troops were doing rounds in the area while choppers were also pressed into service to keep a watch from the sky. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Kashmir University witnessed protests on fourth consecutive day, today, over the disappearance of a student.

A Geology student, Sameer Ahmad Dar, went missing on 19th March after leaving his Pulwama residence for the university.

The class work in various departments was disrupted as the students left their department and assembled at the lawn of Humanities department. The students marched in protest and demanded the whereabouts of Sameer. The protesting students staged a sit-in outside the vice chancellor’s office to press for their demand. »

Islamabad, March 29 (KMS): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, and former Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has castigated the Indian regime of Jammu and Kashmir for its repressive and revengeful policies against the Kashmiris whether in jails or in their homes.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said the Kashmiri prisoners who have been shifted from the valley recently continue to suffer under most inhuman conditions in the Jammu jails. “They are neither shifted back to Kashmir nor released notwithstanding flimsy grounds of detention.” He added. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, clashes erupted between protesters and the Indian forces during a cordon search operation in Hajin area of Bandipora district, today.

The forces launched the operation in Syed Mohalla village of Hajin, early in the morning. The forces’ action forced the local youth to come out of their houses and protest against the operation. They pelted the forces with stones. The troops fired teargas shell on the protesting youth. »

Srinagar, March 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) has asked its investigation wing to determine which battalion of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force was posted at Gawkadal in Srinagar on 21st January 1990 when they fired on civilians, killing more than 50 people and injuring 250.

In April 2012, a petition was filed before the commission by human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, seeking proper probe into the massacre. On 21st January 1990 paramilitary CRPF fired on a procession of people, who were protesting at Gaw Kadal, Srinagar against the molestation of women by Indian forces’ personnel at nearby Chattabal locality. »
