Indian attitude obstacle to Kashmir settlement

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, scores of students were injured after the Indian troops fired bullets and pellets on their protests against the rape and murder of Kathua girl, Aasifa.

The students hit streets in Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama, Bandipora, Baramulla and Gandarbal districts soon after their schools and colleges opened, today. Clashes between student protesters and the troops were particularly reported from Islamabad and Sopore areas. The critically injured students were admitted to local hospitals. The protesting students were holding banners and placards with messages calling for justice to the victim girl. Students of Government Higher Secondary School Kangan staged a sit-in at main Chowk in Gandarbal district and blocked Srinagar-Leh highway for hours. The activists of Peoples Freedom League also staged a protest in Srinagar to condemn the shameful act. »

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the arrest and detention of many Hurriyat leaders under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifting them to jails outside the Valley.

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the detention as political vendetta and the sheer frustration on part of the puppet authorities. »

Sehrai denounces denial of medical facilities to prisoners

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, rich tributes were paid to the Poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his death anniversary.

Addressing a seminar in Srinagar, the senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai said that Allama Iqbal was a God’s gift for whole Muslim Ummah.

“Iqbal followed and pleaded Islam and he is a leading and inspiring figure for all freedom movements in the world,” he said. Sehrai added that Iqbal received his education in West but he had a firm belief that Quran was the only book that could lead Muslims to their cherished destiny. »

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of party leader, Noor Muhammad Kalwal.

Noor Muhammad Kalwal has been lodged in Kothibagah police station. He was again presented before court today which extended his remand for five more days. »

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javaid Ahmad Mir, today, visited Bone and Joints Hospital in Srinagar and enquired about the health of the youth injured in firing by the Indian troops.

Three youth Tanveer Ahmad, Faiz Ahmad and Sajjad Ahmad were injured when troops opened fire on a protest in Kareemabad village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday evening. The Hurriyat leaders strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing on innocent unarmed civilians and said the troops can kill at their will under the garb of draconian and black laws especially Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). »

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the unjustified arrest of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi and her associates in Islamabad town.

The Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Aasiya Andrabi along with her associates was on her organizational tour when she was arrested by Indian police. »

Islamabad, April 23 (KMS): The wife of Ghulam Muhammad Safi, the Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, passed away in Islamabad, today.

She breathed her last at a hospital in Islamabad after protracted illness. »

Protests held in Srinagar, Bandipora against Kathua tragedy

Srinagar April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured after the Indian troops fired bullets and pellets on student protesters in Lal Chowk area of Islamabad district on Monday morning.

The injured students including one indentified as Fayaz Wani were admitted to a local hospital in Islamabad district. Fayaz Wani received pellet injuries in chest and abdomen.

Anti-India protests and clashes between students and Indian troops were going on in different areas of Islamabad, Shopian and Pulwama areas.

Meanwhile, scores of Students of Government High School Malpora Saderkoot in Bandipora district took out a protest march in solidarity with Kathua rape victim. The students boycotted their classes and took out a protest march towards main Chowk raising pro freedom slogans. »

Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while calling India’s unjustified claim on Kashmir as a stumbling block for successful dialogue has said that five-point proposals advanced by the APHC leadership in 2010 should form the basis for talks if New Delhi is sincere in resolving the Kashmir dispute.

Syed Ali Gilani while addressing a seminar at Hyderpora in Srinagar said, “We want New Delhi and also Islamabad to talk… We are against war as it brings destruction.” The seminar was held to pay tributes to great poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA). »
