Complete shutdown observed in IOK today

Srinagar, May 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, today, participated in funeral prayers of a teenage cricket star Shahid Ashraf Dar and two other youth martyred by the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation and in firing on protesters in Pulwama district, yesterday.

Many rounds of funerals were held for Shahid Ashraf Dar, Sameer Ahmad Butt and Aqib Ahmed in Arihal, Drubgam and Rajpora areas of Pulwama district. Scores of men and women wept bitterly and some even fainted as the bodies of the martyrs were carried towards their ancestral graveyards for burial. The participants raised pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. Eyewitnesses said that some mujahideen appeared at the funeral of Sameer and offered him a gun salute. »

Srinagar, May 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, three young boys are feared dead while two others were rescued after a boat capsized in river Jehlum Tuesday evening in district Baramulla.

Police in Baramulla said that a boat with five boys on ride capsized in river Jehlum near Dewan Bagh of the district. »

Washington, May 01 (KMS): Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General, World Kashmir Awareness Forum has said that the murder of 8 years old Asifa, an angel from Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, has shaken the conscience of the leaders not only in South Asia but also all over the world.

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai addressing a huge rally in front of the White House in Washington said that Asifa was abducted, drugged, gang raped and finally murdered simply because she was a Muslim in the so-called largest democracy of India. “Rape is a crime against humanity. The killers of Asifa used the rape as a weapon of terror and fear to force not only Asifa but her whole community out of the city of Kahua,” he added. »

Brussels, May 01 (KMS): A delegation of Kashmiri representatives including Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Zubair Awan and Shamim Shawl paid a two-day visit to the European Union Capital, Brussels.

During the visit the delegation called upon a number of Members of European Parliament, policy makers, political groups and delegation officers at the European Parliament. The delegation was received warmly. »

Islamabad, May 01 (KMS): Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred thirty three Kashmiris including two young boys in occupied Kashmir in the last month of April. According to the data compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, of those one was killed in a fake encounter while killings rendered four women widowed and six children orphaned. »

IOK Bar abstains from courts as mark of protest against killings

Srinagar, May 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed against the killing of three youth including a cricket star during cordon and search operation and firing of Indian troops on protesters in Pulwama, yesterday. Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The troops had killed Sameer Ahmed Butt, Aqib Ahmed and a teenager cricket start Shahid Ashraf Dar at Drabgam in Pulwama district. Scores of protestors were injured in firing by the troops. »

Shahid Ashraf Dar was famous as a brilliant cricketer who led his team to victories in several tournaments. People attended his funeral and raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, while his mother kept on wailing.

Thousands of mourners squeezed into the courtyard of the Jamia Masjid at Arihal village of Pulwama where the funeral prayers were offered. The rush of people was such that the body had to be taken to the roof of the mosque. »
