Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have martyred 593 people till date in the ongoing uprising that started after the martyrdom of young Kashmiri leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, on the 8th July 2016.

According to a report issued by the Kashmir Media Service, today, the troops in order to suppress the uprising used bullets and pellets during the period injuring 21,600 people. The pellet firing rendered 128 youth totally blinded while 207 persons lost vision in one eye and 1020 youth are at the verge of losing their total eyesight. During the ongoing uprising, 65,880 residential houses were damaged and 778 women were molested. »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, one youth was martyred and at least ten others were injured when Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on protesters in Shopian district, today.

The troops killed and injured the youth when they were protesting against a siege and search operation in Turkawangam village of the district. One more civilian is said to be critical. »

New Delhi, , May 02 (KMS): Press freedom in India has deteriorated in 2018 and three journalists have been killed in the first four months, media watchdog The Hoot said, stating that “journalists continue to be vulnerable”.

The number of killings documented by The Hoot report for the first four months was the same as in the whole of 2017. “They were killed in connection with their reporting, judging by what initial investigations show,” it said. »

Jammu, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, in yet another incident of hate crime against Muslims, a student identified as Liyaqat Ali was stabbed to death by a gang of Hindu terrorists in Billawar area of Kathua district in Jammu, today.

Nishant Kouser, the sister of the slain Liyaqat Ali told police that her brother was stabbed with sharp edged weapon by Abhishek Sharma and Honey Khajuria at Dher village in Billawar. »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a protest demonstration led by Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) Chairperson Yasmeen Raja was staged in Drabgam area of Pulwama district against the killings of three youth by Indian troops in the area on Monday.

The protesters carrying Pakistani flags raised pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. Yasmeen Raja while addressing the mourners denounced the forces’ action. She deplored that the global rights bodies, activists, and Indian civil society members had turned a blind eye to the killings in the occupied territory. »

Reaffirms support to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination

Jeddah, May 02 (KMS): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir at an emergency meeting held in Jeddah strongly condemned the recent killing of civilians by the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Tehmina Janjua, led Pakistan’s delegation to the meeting which was chaired by Ambassador Abdullah Al-Aalim, OIC Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir, and was attended by the delegation from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Niger. »

London, May 02 (KMS): Kashmir Women Movement (UK & Europe) was launched in London to highlight at the international level gross human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

Kashmiri woman leader, Shamim Shawl launched the organisation along with Councilor Asma Rathor, former deputy Mayor Khadija Malik and a number of prominent women. »

New Delhi, May 02 (KMS): A fresh petition has been filed in the Indian Supreme Court against Article 35A of the Indian Constitution that gives special rights and privileges to permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Article 35A also debars the Indians from acquiring immovable property, obtaining government jobs and settling in the occupied territory. »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has urged the people to boycott the upcoming sham elections to prove to the world that Kashmiris will not compromise their inalienable right to self-determination.

Syed Ali Gilani said this while telephonically addressing mourners at the funeral of a martyred youth, Sameer Ahmed Butt, in Pulwama from his residence in Srinagar. He said, “Those who vote in elections are not only committing an act of treason but their actions are also acting as oxygen for India’s forcible control over Kashmir.” »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, delegations of different pro-freedom organizations visited Drubgam, Rajpora and Arihal areas of Pulwama district and participated in the funeral prayers of Sameer Ahmed Butt, Aaqaib Ahmed and cricket star Shahid Ashraf Dar.

The youth were martyred by the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation and firing on protesters in the district, the other day. »
