The resistance leaders after a meeting in Srinagar in a statement said that the so-called authorities had unleashed a reign of terror against the innocent civilians of the territory. »

Journalists working in difficult situation in IOK

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of a student, Umar Kumhar, in Shopian district, today.

Umar Kumhar, a ninth class student, was killed and more than thirty people were injured when the Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on protesters during a cordon and search operation in Turkawangam area of the district, yesterday. The troops also damaged two houses and at least four cowsheds in the area. Thousands of people poured onto the streets as the body of the martyred student was taken for burial. They raised high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Multiple funerals were held for Umar to accommodate the huge rush of people. Eyewitnesses said that the martyr was laid to rest with his school uniform shirt over his body. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested noted religious scholar and the Chairman of Ummat-e-Islami, Qazi Ahmed Yasir, in Islamabad town, last night.

The Ummat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that a police party raided the house of Qazi Yasir late last night and took him into custody to prevent him from visiting Turkawangam area of Shopian district to express solidarity with the family of a student, Umar Kumhar, who was killed by Indian troops, yesterday. He said that Qazi Yasir was lodged at Saddar Police Station in the town. »

Lucknow, May 03 (KMS): Several students of Aligarh Muslim University including the students’ union president and secretary were injured in a police lathi-charge when they were protesting the police inaction against the armed rightwing outsiders creating ruckus on the campus.

The AMU students were injured when the police resorted to lathi-charge and firing of teargas shells against the protesters. The outsiders affiliated to the Hindu Yuva Vahini created disorder inside the campus. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the General Secretary of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, has condemned the remarks made by newly sworn-in puppet Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, that kidnapping, rape and murder of the eight-year-old Kathua girl is a “small matter” which should not have been given such a big hype.

Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that such remarks exposed the real face of RSS and BJP before the people. He said that some elements were trying to give the Kathua tragedy a communal colour which was condemnable. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, visited SMHS Hospital in Srinagar and enquired about the health of the youth injured in the firing of pellets and bullets by the Indian troops in different areas.

Talking to the victims, the JKLF Chairman said that the so-called rulers were pursuing a policy to kill and maim the Kashmiri youth and snatch their eyesight by pellets which had remained the most dreadful weapon of the callous rulers. »
