Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists, today, staged a peaceful protest against unabated killing spree in the territory.

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (JKMC) led by its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Dar and comprised Imtiyaz Ahmed and Sharifuddin, today, visited Doru area of Islamabad district and expressed solidarity with the family of 21 years old Sajad Ahmed Rather who was recently martyred by the Indian troops. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and Hakim Abdul Rashid have said that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and the Kashmiri people are sacrificing for its just, honourable and lasting resolution.

Yousuf Naqash and Hakim Abdul Rashid addressing a public gathering at Rambeel Garh in Baramulla said neither Delhi nor its any apparatus can dilute the genuineness of the Kashmiris’ demand because the international community through the UN resolutions had recognised their inalienable right to self-determination. »

Islamabad, May 11 (KMS): Speakers at a seminar in Islamabad, today, urged India to fulfill its commitment of giving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination through holding of a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir under the UN supervision.

The seminar was organised by the Srinagar-based International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir headed by prominent human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo. »

Several Hurriyat leaders detained, Jamia Masjid sealed

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged forceful demonstrations in Srinagar and other major towns, today, against surge in the killing of youth by the Indian troops in the territory.

Call for the demonstrations was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. People took to the streets in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Islamabad, Pulwama, Kulgam Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla and other areas raising high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. The demonstrations were led by Hurriyat leaders including Advocate Bashir Ahmed Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Shabbir Ahmed Dar and Imtiaz Ahmed Reshi. Indian troops and police personnel fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters at various places, injuring many of them. People also offered funeral prayers in absentia in Srinagar, Pampore, Shopian and other areas for the martyrs. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest, today, hours ahead of his scheduled address at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

The forum spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that a police party reached the Nigeen residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and asked him not to come out. He said that the action was aimed at preventing the Mirwaiz from leading protests after the Juma prayers. The authorities also imposed strict restrictions in many parts of Srinagar to prevent people from staging demonstrations. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Sumbal town of Bandipora district, today, to protest against firing of pellets at a shopkeeper by the India police yesterday.

The police had fired pellets on the shopkeeper Abdul Rasheed Wani (50) which resulted in severe damage to his eye, besides injuries in the face. He is being treated at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar.

All shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian policeman was killed in an attack in Budgam district, today.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a police post in Wadwan area of the district injuring a policeman. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, however, he died on the way.

Soon after the attack, Indian troops and police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the attackers. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the statement of Indian Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat on Kashmir and termed it illogical.

The Indian Army Chief said that Kashmiris should note down that they would not achieve freedom, no matter what.

The illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement in Srinagar termed General Rawat’s assertion as self-contradictory. He said Indian Army Chief needs to revisit basic historical facts before issuing such threats to the people that have resolved to achieve freedom from illegal occupation. He said General Rawat wants the Kashmiris to surrender before the Indian might without even realizing that many Generals before him failed to achieve the wishful goal despite using all their military might. »

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that all pro-India parties and leaders are responsible for miseries and bloodbath of Kashmiris.

Syed Ali Gilani said this while commenting on a recently held meeting of pro-India parties and leaders.

The APHC Chairman in a statement in Srinagar said, “Going through the history, one can come cross a long list of these traitors with their horrifying crimes against their own people.” He said this pro-India class has mutually agreed to take turns to slaughter and to crush Kashmiris for their lust of power”. »
