Srinagar, May 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has issued a notice to the puppet administration asking it to file a response within three weeks to a petition against the illegal detention of senior APHC leader and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, under draconian law Public Safety Act (PSA).

After hearing advocate Mian Tufail, the consul for Masarrat Aalam Butt, the single bench of acting Chief Justice Alok Aradhe issued the notice to the administration, directing it to file a response along with production of record within three weeks.

Masarrat Aalam’s uncle, Farooq Ahmed had filed the petition before the High Court against his detention. The petition states that Masarrat Aalam Butt had been under prolonged detention under various draconian Public Safety Acts that had often affected his rights, and sought his release.

The 47-year-old resistance leader, Masarrat Aalam, was placed under detention during the mass uprising in 2010. He was released in 2015 for a period of only 40 days before being rearrested and lodged in jail.
