Gilani, Mirwaiz, Malik detained

Srinagar, June 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, against the surge in civilian killings, desecration of religious places and graves of martyrs and other brutalities of the Indian troops in the territory particularly in South Kashmir.

Call for the shutdown has been given the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and is also aimed at drawing the attention of the world community towards the plight of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails. All shops and business establishments are closed in the territory while transport is off the road.

Meanwhile, Indian police arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik after raiding his residence in Maisuma area of Srinagar, today. The puppet authorities placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, today, while Syed Ali Gilani is already under house detention for the past more than eight years.

The occupation authorities have also imposed curfew and restrictions in Srinagar to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killing of a youth, Qaiser Butt. Qaiser was critically injured after he was run over by a vehicle of Indian Central Reserve Police Force during a demonstration in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, yesterday. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, early morning today. The authorities have also snapped internet and mobile services in Srinagar and Badgam districts besides suspending rail service between north Kashmir’s Baramulla and the Bannihal town in Jammu region.
