Geneva, June 19 (KMS): A Kashmiri delegation met Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and thanked him for his historic role in the release of the first-ever UN report on Kashmir.

The report reaffirmed the international status of Kashmir as a disputed territory and censured India for serious human rights violations in the Valley.

Al-Hussein made Kashmir history last week when he released a 49-page report on the situation of human rights in Kashmir, paving the way for an international intervention.

The delegation thanked Al-Hussein, who is from Jordan, for his statement. Those who informally met Al-Hussein included Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, Hassan al Bana and Advocate Pervez Shah.

The Kashmiri delegation is participating in the 38th session of the Human Rights Council. Altaf Hussain Wani, Shamim Shawl, Tayiba Bashir and Ahmed Quraishi are also part of the delegation.
