Seminar on Korean women held in Geneva » Kashmir Media Service

Geneva, June 20 (KMS): A seminar titled “Korean women, South & North- peace, reconciliation, rights & development” was organized by Women’s UN Report Networking and Women’s Federation for World Peace International.

Kashmiri representatives, Ms Shamim Shawl and Ms Tayyaba Bashir attended the seminar.

Ms Shamim Shawl during the discussion said meeting place for women be established in or near the demilitarized zone.

Beginning from peace between South Korea and North Korea, she asked how this can be achieved in South Asia in the divided Kashmir. Can we have a meeting place for women of South Asia where they can share their experience during war and rebuild a new society where they can live with honour, dignity and freedom, she questioned.

The seminar was followed by a detailed informal meeting with panelists including Ms Carolyn Handschin Moser, Chairperson of Women Federation for World Peace international.
