Srinagar, June 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum has said that people of different areas of Jammu region are facing atrocities for their unflinching support to the Kashmir cause.

The Mirwaiz forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said that a 20-member delegation from Kishtwar district met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and apprised him of the prevailing situation in Doda, Bhaderwah and other areas of Chenab Valley in Jammu region.

“The delegation assured full support to the Mirwaiz stating that people of Chenab Valley have always been with the pro-freedom leadership of Kashmir and would continue to remain steadfast in their commitment towards the ongoing struggle for right to self determination,” the statement said. “The delegation stated that people of Chenab Valley were also being subjected to various forms of atrocities and challenges for their affiliation with the freedom struggle,” the statement added.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, according to the statement, told the delegation that Kashmir’s political movement for self-determination was not confined to any one region or district, but was for the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir. “It is a mass movement of and for the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir and all people are committed to take it to its logical end,” he said.

The Mirwaiz while expressing grief over the colossal damage caused to many residential houses in the blaze at Pandaan in Nowhatta area of Srinagar appealed for generous donation for the rehabilitation of fire victims.

Meanwhile, the Hurriyat forum in a statement strongly condemned the killing of two civilians Muhammad Yousuf Rather and Aqib Rather at the hands of Indian forces, stating that the forces’ personnel had unleashed ultimate repression across occupied Kashmir and the youth were being killed, maimed and injured with the deadly pellets and bullets.
