Srinagar, July 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, on his 12th death anniversary the family of a musician, Inayatullah Butt, killed by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion stationed just outside his home in Srinagar in 2006, has decried delay in justice.

Inayatullah Butt, a resident of Munwarabad locality of Srinagar was killed for mere demanding money. “He had only demanded money for the bread. In return he received bullets,” said Butt’s brother Rais Ahmad.

Butt’s killing had triggered demonstrations in Srinagar for several days. “Ironically, despite passing of 12 years, the accused troopers are yet to be punished,” Rais said. A graduate turned musician, Butt had suffered multiple fractures on his hip bone, when he had fallen from third storey of his house three years prior to his killing.

After failing to get justice, Butt’s family had knocked the doors of Human Rights Commission (HRC) in 2006. The commission in its report had maintained that Bhat was killed by CRPF men. “We appeal to the international human rights organizations to help us in getting justice,” Butt’s family added.
