Srinagar, July 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, shutdown was observed in Bhadarwah, Banihal and other areas of Jammu region to commemorate the second martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani and killings of civilians by Indian troops in Kulgam.

The strike was observed on the call of Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah (AIB) to pay tribute to Burhan Wani and to protest the killings of three civilians in firing by Indian army in Kulgam district.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in Bhadarwah district. Denouncing the civilian killings in Kulgam, AIB President Pervez Ahmad Sheikh termed it as one of the bloodiest days in the valley in recent months.

Banihal town also witnessed shutdown against the killings. The shopkeepers downed their shutters to lodge protest over the civilian killings in the Valley.

While strongly condemning the killings, the members of civil society said that such reckless killings would deteriorate the already worsened situation in the valley.
