Srinagar, July 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, today, participated in the funeral prayers of martyr 11th class student Ubaid Manzoor Lone at Nadihal Sopore in Baramulla district.

Ubaid was injured in the firing of Indian troops during a protest demonstration on Baramulla-Handwara highway on June 25. After battling for his life for 15 days at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences, he breathed his last on Tuesday morning.

Thousands of people including women and children participated in the last rites of Ubaid Manzoor. Shouting pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans, the mourners offered funeral prayers at Nadihal high school ground.

The mourners later marched through the lanes of Nadihal carrying body of Ubaid upto martyrs’ graveyard. Amid sobs and tears the martyred student was laid to rest at the ancestral graveyard.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Nadihal and adjoining areas against the killing of young student.

In a statement, Principal Boys Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, said, “Due to tragic death of the student, the class work shall remain suspended today.”
