Mujahideen say Tariq was killed by Indian agencies

Srinagar, July 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, according him the status of a martyr, the body of a youth from Heff village in Shopian district was exhumed from the general graveyard after five days and buried at Heff’s martyrs’ graveyard by local people.

The youth, Tariq Ahmad Mohand, was abducted by unknown men on July 8 from outside his home. His body was found the next day at Rakhmoman area of Arwani in neighbouring Kulgam district. After a post-mortem conducted at sub-district hospital, Shopian, police in Kulgam handed over the body to the family.

Eyewitnesses said, nine mujahideen appeared in Heff village and offered several rounds of gun salute to Tariq Ahmad Mohand. “He was our well-wisher and was killed by Indian agencies. He is a martyr,” the mujahideen told a gathering of hundreds of villagers near the martyrs’ graveyard in Heff.

A resident of Heff, wishing anonymity, told media that the mujahideen who appeared in the village raised pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans. He said that earlier the body of Tariq was buried in the general graveyard as people thought he had been killed by unknown gunmen.

Tariq Ahmad Mohand, according to locals, was a carpenter by profession and had got married nine months ago.

A gathering of more than a thousand people raising pro-Pakistan, pro-freedom and anti-India slogans was present when Tariq was buried at the martyrs’ graveyard.

Before his re-burial, thousands of people with misty eyes participated in his funeral prayers. Mohand was the 16th youth from the village who was buried in the martyrs’ graveyard.
