Srinagar, July 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, in what can be termed travesty of justice, a lawyer representing the main culprit in the Kathua rape and murder case has been appointed as the additional advocate general by the Delhi-run administration led by Governor NN Vohra, reported Indian media.

Lawyer Aseem Sawhney’s name figures in the serial number seven of the list of additional advocates general, deputy advocates general and government advocates issued for Jammu wing of the High Court by the Law Department.

Asked whether he will now withdraw his vakalatnama in the case of rape and murder of an eight-year-old Aasifa Bano, Sawhney said there is no need for it.

Hitting out at the decision, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s promises including Beti Bachao and women rights were all “lies”.

The eight-year-old girl, Aasifa, from a Muslim nomadic community, was kidnapped, raped and brutally murdered by the members of Hindu extremists organizations and Indian police in January this year.
