APHC condemns continued house detention of Syed Ali Gilani

Srinagar, July 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly denounced the continued illegal detention of its Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and plight of the detainees languishing in different jails.

The APHC Executive Council members including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah, Syed Muhammad Shafi and Nisar Husain Rather led a demonstration in Hyderpora area of Srinagar against the continued house detention of Syed Ali Gilani and ill-treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails of the occupied territory and India.

Hurriyat leaders and activists including Syed Imtiaz Haider, Imran Ahmed Butt, Abdur Rasheed Lone, Muhammad Shafi Mir and Arshad Hussain Butt also participated in the demonstration.

Meanwhile, an APHC spokesman in a statement condemned the occupation authorities for keeping Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, under continued house arrest.

On the other hand, the APHC in another statement strongly condemned the cordon-and-search operations conducted by Indian troops at Lal Chowk in Srinagar and in various parts of the territory. It said that the forces’ personnel were unnecessarily harassing and intimidating civilians and business community on one pretext or the other. Virtually authorities have turned Kashmir into a battlefield, subjecting civilians to the worst treatment and disregarding their fundamental rights, it added.

It said targeting business hub and busy areas is a deep conspiracy and termed it as sheer lawlessness. Carrying searches of commercial establishments and frisking commuters is having detrimental effect on business activities in crowded market place in Lal Chowk, the APHC statement said
