Srinagar, July 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has issued notice to Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, to answer why passport is being denied to Sama Shabbir Shah, the daughter of illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah. The court has asked the officer to reply by Tuesday (July 31).

The court issued notice through Assistant Solicitor General (ASG), Tahir Majid Shamsi, after counsel of Sama Shabbir Shah prayed before court that the order passed by court on July 10, 2018, was categorically refused.

On July 10, 2018 the High Court had directed the authorities to decide on issuance of passport to Sama within two weeks, but so far no passport has been issued to her.

Sama, who applied for passport six months ago, was compelled to file petition before high court after she was denied passport on one or the other reason. She herself argued before the court that from last six months the authorities were not coming clear on whether to issue passport or not.

She submitted before court that she was a student and wanted to pursue LLB course through University of Manchester for which passport was necessarily asked. She stated that already she had lost enough time and cannot afford to lose one year.

Sama, who cleared the 12 class CBSE examination with top position, is planning to pursue LLB course through University of Manchester, London, and is supposed to complete the formalities by the end of this month, otherwise the admission will be cancelled based on non-completion of documents.

Her family said that they had only one week to complete the formalities and in case passport was not issued within this time, “we fear that Sama may lose admission in the university”.
