Srinagar, July 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, has expressed serious concern over the arrest spree unleashed by the Indian forces and cautioned the authorities to end the reign of terror in the Valley.

Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the repressive and suppressive measures would not be able to force Kashmiris to submission and despite the arbitrary measures, detentions, humiliations and denial of political space they would pursue their cherished mission. »

Srinagar, July 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has paid glowing tributes to the martyred youth, Mudassir Ahmad Wani of Barzulla area of Srinagar, demanding return of his mortal remains to his family.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai addressing a condolence meeting at Mudassir’s residence in Barzulla said, “The policy of denying mortal remains of the youth to their kith and kin is a brazen violation of religious and human rights.” »

The policeman identified as Javaid Ahmed Dar who was reportedly abducted on Thursday evening from his home in Vehil area of Shopian district was found dead at Pariwan in Kulgam district. »

JRL denounces Modi for remarks on Kashmir

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the second martyrdom anniversary of the prominent Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani will be observed on Sunday with the reaffirmation of the people’s determination that the freedom struggle will be continued till it reaches its logical conclusion.

Call for the observance of the day has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leadership appealed to the people to hold special prayers and fateha khawani, tomorrow, on Friday for Burhan Wani and those killed by the Indian troops during the mass uprising erupted after the killing of Burhan Wani on the 8th of July in 2016. Complete shutdown will be observed on Sunday and rich tributes will be paid to the Kashmiri martyrs. The JRL will hold a public meeting in Tral on that day. The leadership denounced the assertions of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Kashmir was a development and governance issue saying that Kashmir was a longstanding dispute that needed to be settled through right to self-determination. »

Washington, July 05 (KMS): Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, may intensify a crackdown on youth in Kashmir, which risks more violence, said US-based satellite CNBC TV channel.

The TV in its report says, “His (Modi’s) recent actions, including ending an alliance with a regional political party (PDP), could trigger more aggressive policies in the troubled (Kashmir) area that could incite backlash from locals.” »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): Indian authorities have resorted to yet another tactic to block the entry of Kashmiri people below thirty years of age intending to visit Pakistan for education or to meet their relatives in the country.

Even those people who have valid visas are forced to get a clearance certificate from police before embarking on the trip. The clearance certificate is being used as a tool to prevent the entry of the youth to Pakistan. »

Statement of UN chief’s spokesman negates Indian claim

United Nations, July 05 (KMS): The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has appointed a veteran Uruguay Army general as the chief military observer of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan.

Major General Jose Eladio Alcain will succeed the incumbent UNMOGIP chief, Major General Per Gustaf Lodin of Sweden, who will complete his two-year assignment this month, an official statement said.

Jose Eladio Alcain had a distinguished career with the Uruguayan Army since 1977. Most recently, he held the position of Director of the National Health Service of the Armed Forces. »
