IOK court reserves order on FIR registration

Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a Srinagar court has reserved the order on an application seeking registration of FIR in custodial death of a student, Umar Qayoom, in 2010.

Umar Qayoom, a class 11 student from Soura area of Srinagar, was killed in custody on August 25, 2010, after he was arrested by the police from outside his home.

The family of deceased teenager has been exploring every option to get the FIR registered in the case for past eight years. »

Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has lauded the courage and resilience of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists including Shahid-ul-Islam languishing in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail and said that India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), which booked these leaders under false charges, has failed to prove anything against them.

The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam and others that include Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Mehraj-u-din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid Yousuf and Zahoor Ahmed Watali, completed one year of imprisonment in Tihar Jail.”

Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) has said that the authorities of Udhampur Jail in Jammu are denying medical facilities to its illegally detained President, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo.

A spokesman of MDM in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, who is facing life imprisonment, was shifted to Udhampur district jail by the occupation authorities despite having directions by the High Court to keep him at Srinagar Central Jail. He said that the party chief was suffering from Glucoma and his eyesight was deteriorating with each passing day but the authorities were depriving him of medical facilities. »

Sehrai stresses need for unity

Srinagar, July 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two youth in Islamabad district, today.

The youth identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar and Abid Hussain Butt were killed after Indian forces blasted a house with explosive material during a cordon and search operation in Lal Chowk area of Islamabad town. The house destroyed in the blast in Islamabad town, today, belonged to Ummat-e-Islami newly-appointed General Secretary, Waheed Ahmed Khan. The killing triggered anti-India protests in the town. Several people were injured in forces’ action against the protesters. The authorities suspended Internet and train services in South Kashmir. »

Bilal Ahmad Dar along with another youth was martyred by the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Lal Chowk area of Islamabad town, today. »

Srinagar, July 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Secretary General, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi has strongly condemned the ransacking of properties by Indian forces in the name of search operations and night raids in nook and corner of the territory, saying the authorities have waged a war on innocent civilians.

While referring to the night raids and CASOs carried out by Indian troops in several villages in South Kashmir, Sumjhi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that scores of innocent and peaceful protestors were injured in the indiscriminate firing. »

Srinagar, July 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Forensic Science Laboratory has established that the nomadic Muslim girl raped and murdered in Kathua this January was sedated during captivity. The girl, Aasifa, belonging to a Bakarwal Muslim family, was kidnapped on January 10 and her body was found on January 17 near Rasana village in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district of Jammu. »

Locals said that heavy firing and blasts were heard which created panic in the entire Lal Chowk area of the southern district. The operation is still on in the area. Internet was shut in Islamabad district while train service was suspended across south Kashmir in view of anti-India protests. »

London, July 25 (KMS): The United Nations human rights report on Kashmir, released last month, was raised in the British House of Lords by British peers who called on the government to take steps to help implement the recommendations. Lord Qurban Hussain raised the issue in the Upper House of Parliament, calling upon the UK government to facilitate an independent international inquiry into rights abuses in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. »

Srinagar, July 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has stressed that the unanimous demand of all the resistance leadership should only be “We Want Freedom from India”.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai addressing a seminar in Srinagar asked for ignoring minor issues within the ranks and coming to common terms. The event was organized by the Joint Resistance Leadership to mark the year-long detention of Hurriyat leaders in Delhi’s Tihar Jail after arrest by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He said the need of the hour is to stay united. However, he added, the unity should not be restricted to a few organizations or a few people. »
