Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a court of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), today, sent Syed Shakeel Yousuf, son of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin, to 10-day remand of the Indian probe agency.

Reports said the NIA court sent Shakeel Yousuf into the custody of NIA till September 10.

Shakeel Yousuf was arrested from Rambagh area of Srinagar during a night raid on Thursday. He works as a lab technician at Soura Hospital in Srinagar. »

Demonstrations held against onslaught on Article 35-A

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown, marked by forceful demonstrations, was observed on the second consecutive day, today, against India’s attempts to repeal through its judiciary the Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution. Article 35-A grants special privileges and rights to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and bars non-Kashmiris from buying property in the territory.

Normal life remained paralyzed in Kashmir Valley, Chenab Valley, Doda, Bhaderwah, Banihal, Thathri, Gandoh, Gool, Ramban, Mahore, Banihal, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and Kargil in Ladakh. Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. The Indian Supreme Court adjourned the hearing into the petitions seeking repeal of the constitutional provision till January 2019. »

Islamabad, August 31 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a demonstration in front of the National Press Club, Islamabad, today, against India’s attempts to abrogate Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities sealed Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, today, to prevent people from staging demonstrations against onslaught on the Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Call for the peaceful demonstrations was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by High Court Bar Association, transporters and traders’ bodies. It protests were aimed at registering protests against the Indian conspiracies to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating the Article 35-A. »

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the United Jihad Council has termed the arrest of the second son of its chief, Syed Salahuddin, by India’s National Investigation Agency as a vengeance.

The UJC in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Indian forces and agencies by targeting the houses and families of freedom activists were making vain attempts to break the resolve of the resistance leadership. “The Indian forces and agencies are frustrated by the increasing activities of mujahideen and as such target their houses and relatives. Such cowardly acts strengthen our resolve to fight for freedom,” it said. »

Brussels, August 31 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has expressed solidarity with the families of the people subjected to custodial disappearance by the Indian troops and police in occupied Kashmir.

As per the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) over 8,000 Kashmiris have vanished in the custody after they were picked up by the Indian troops, police and paramilitary forces during the last three decades and the families of these victims had no information about their whereabouts. »

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned the arrest of the second son of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin, and said that such cowardly acts could not break the resolve of the resistance leadership.

A DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the arrest of Syed Shakeel Yousuf as vengeful act of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA). He said Indian agencies like ED and NIA have been tasked to break the will of the resistance leadership so these agencies have intensified their willful campaign of character assassination against the leadership. »

New Delhi, August 31 (KMS): Supreme Court of India, today, adjourned the hearing in petitions seeking abrogation of Article 35A of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and bars non-Kashmiris from buying property in the territory.

The petitions came up for the hearing, today, in the apex court which adjourned the case till January 2019. The case will now be heard in the 2nd week of January. »
