Srinagar, August 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has sent a three-member team to New Delhi to file an intervention application in the Indian Supreme Court ahead of the hearing on Article 35-A listed for 6th August.

The decision was taken at the general body meeting of the HCBA in Srinagar. The Bar Association formed a three-member team of senior members to file the intervention application.

“The meeting deliberated upon the issue and decided that as a vibrant institution it has a responsibility to intervene for and on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” media reports quoting officials said. The team consists of former HCBA General Secretary and the incumbent executive member Muhammad Ashraf Butt, General Secretary G M Shaheen, and Joint Secretary Aadil Asimi.

The HCBA has taken the case very seriously and has decided to defend Article 35-A at all costs.

Meanwhile, South Kashmir Civil Society (SKCS) in a statement expressed deep concern over the nefarious design orchestrated by some Hindu extremist groups in India purposely to tamper with the Article 35-A of Indian Constitution. It said that tinkering with Article 35-A would lead to mass agitation in the territory and people would resist such moves tooth and nail.
