Protests against Article 35-A plot tomorrow

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred two youth in Kupwara district, today.

The youth were killed by the troops during a violent cordon and search operation in Khumriyal area of the district. Meanwhile, Indian police arrested Hurriyet leaders Hakeem Abdul Rashid and Umar Aadil Dar in Islamabad town.

Protests will be held in the occupied territory, tomorrow, after Juma prayers against the Indian government’s plan to abrogate Article 35-A of the Indian constitution. Call for the protests has been given by the Grand Mufti-designate, Mufti Naserul-Islam. The Joint Resistance Leadership and trade bodies have called for shutdown on Sunday and Monday to protest the assault on the Article. »

Srinagar August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and Javaid Ahmad Mir have expressed grave concern over the deep-rooted conspiracy of Indian establishment to invalidate Article 370 and Article 35-A.

The Hurriyat leaders in their joint statement issued in Srinagar termed the move as political, economic and cultural onslaught by India to change the demography of Muslim majority territory of Kashmir. The statement also called it a nefarious design to divert the attention from the inalienable right to self-determination of people of Jammu and Kashmir. »

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, civil curfew and shutdown will be observed in Rajouri district of Jammu region on Monday (August 6) to protest the assault on Article 35-A.

This was decided, today, in a meeting which was attended by Ulema, Muslim Welfare Forum and civil society members at Eidgah Masjid in the district. The meeting was presided over by Ghulam Rasool Khateeb.

The speakers discussed the burning issue of Article 35-A which is listed before the Indian Supreme Court for hearing on 6th August, said a member of civil society, who participated in the meeting. »

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum and High Court Bar Association have expressed strong concern over the amendment to the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) terming the move as anti-human and politically-motivated.

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the move reflects the revengeful mentality of the Indian authorities against these political prisoners. It said that dozens of prisoners lodged outside prisons including Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail were deprived of basic facilities like medical care and hygienic food. »

Jammu, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Islami Markazi Majis-e-Shoora, Kishtwar district, has warned of strong agitation against Indian attempts to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and to damage its disputed nature by using its judiciary.

The Islami Markazi Majis-e-Shoora in a statement issued in Jammu said that challenging Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution was an open assault on the people of Jammu and Kashmir and was aimed at changing its demographic composition. It said Article 35-A is related to the state subject laws and once these laws are done away with, it will be disastrous for the entire population of Jammu and Kashmir. »

Islamabad, August 02 (KMS): Foreign Office (FO) Spokesman, Dr Mohammad Faisal has said the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir reflects the unabated use of force, oppression, suppression and mass killings by Indian forces of innocent Kashmiris.

Dr Mohammad Faisal in his weekly briefing, today, said during last month, Indian troops in unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred twenty-one (21) Kashmiris including four young boys and a woman. He said during the month, 310 Kashmiris were also critically injured, when Indian police and paramilitary personnel used brute force and fired pellet guns and teargas shells against peaceful demonstrators. The troops also damaged 46 houses during this period. »

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed concern over the conspiracies being hatched by RSS-backed BJP government in Delhi which are aimed at turning Muslim majority population into a minority in Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating all legal and constitutional barriers.

The APHC at its Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by Secretary General, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, discussed the volatile situation in the wake of Indian extremist forces’ move against Article 35-A. »
