Jammu, August 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an extra-ordinary meeting of the Majlis-e-Shura of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM) was held in Jammu, with party Chairman, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj, in chair.

The participants of the meeting expressed concern over the conspiracies being hatched in New Delhi which are aimed at turning Muslim majority population into a minority in Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution.

Article 35-A is the hereditary state subject law that defines the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and bars non-locals from buying or owning property in the territory. It has been challenged by an NGO, ‘We the Citizens’, and other groups in the Indian Supreme Court.

Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj said that if the Article 35-A was abrogated, a sea of Muslims would take to the streets in Jammu region to protest against the move. He supported the shutdown call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on August 5-6 to register protest against the assault on Article 35-A.

He said that the attempts to repeal the constitutional provision were aimed at turning Muslim majority population into minority in Jammu and Kashmir but the Kashmiris would never allow this dream of India to come true. He said that it was the responsibility of all the Kashmiri people to raise voice against it and foil the sinister designs of New Delhi.
