Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Gurez, Rafiabad and all the martyrs of preceding week has said that Indian stubbornness is a main obstacle in peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, urged the UN Secretary General to intervene for resolution of the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Commission to take cognizance of the plight of detenues lodged in different Indian jails, especially Udhampur District jail. »

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned the arrest of party leader, Zahoor Ahmad Butt in Srinagar and termed it as frustration of the authorities.

Police last night raided the residence of JKLF leader, Zahoor Ahmad Butt at Hawal in Srinagar and arrested him. He was shifted to Nowhata police station where he is still lodged. »

Islamabad, August 09 (KMS): Foreign Office (FO) Spokesman, Dr Mohammad Faisal has condemned the killing of innocent Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces and described it as the worst kind of state terrorism.

Dr Mohammad Faisal in his weekly briefing, today, said the Indian forces during last week killed 12 innocent Kashmiris, which include; Bilal Ahmad Shah, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Riyaz Ahmed Dar and Engineer Khursheed Ahmad Malik, Umar Nazir Malik, Arshad Ahmad Khan, Aijaz Ahmad Paul, Waqar Ahmed Sheikh, Arif Ahamd Mir, Bilal Ahmad Khan, Syeed Murfad Shah, Mohammad Rafiq Gujjar in Kupwara, Sopore, Shopian, Jammu and Ramban areas. »

Rights bodies urged to send teams to visit Aasiya in jail

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one more youth in Baramulla district, today, raising the toll to five in less than past 24 hours.

The troops killed the youth during a cordon and search operation in Rafiabad area of the district. Four youth were killed by the troops in the same area, yesterday. Another youth identified as, Arif Sofi, who was subjected to ruthless torture after being abducted by Indian agents in Kulgam, succumbed at a hospital in Srinagar, today. »

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) have condemned harassment of Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails from Tihar in India to Baramulla in the Valley.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the shifting of Showkat Ahmad Ganai, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai and Bilal Ahmad Ganai to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu under draconian law Public Safety Act. The TeH also condemned the continued detention of Riaz Ahmad Dar, Basharat Ahmad Mir, Manzoor Ahmad Najar, Ashiq Hussian Butt, Latif Ahmad Ratherand Sajjad Ahmad Butt and demanded their immediate release. »

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has expressed deep concern over the shifting of illegally detained Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi along with her associates Nahida Nasreen and Fahmida Sofi to Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

The HCBA spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar demanded of the International Committee of Red Cross and other human rights organizations to send their teams to Tihar Jail, New Delhi, to see for themselves the condition of Aasiya, Nahida and Fahmida, who are lodged in the jail. »

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Pellet Victims Association (PVA) has strongly condemned the continued use of pellet guns and deadly weapons by the Indian forces against the peaceful demonstrations across the Kashmir valley.

The spokesman of the Association, Junaid Ahmed, in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Many youth can’t see, as pellets have pierced optic nerve of both eyes and are struggling for recovery of their eyesight in different hospitals. »

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have paid glowing tributes to prominent martyred leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz ahead of his martyrdom anniversary.

The spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement issued in Srinagar said Sheikh Abdul Aziz is an asset of the ongoing resistance movement. He was a long time friend and well wisher of illegally detained DFP Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah.

He said Sheikh Abdul Aziz and Shabbir Ahmad Shah spent lot of time together and faced hardships jointly in the way of freedom. Both the leaders led historical ‘Muzaffarabad Challo’ march during 2008 uprising in which Sheikh Abdul Aziz was martyred by the men in uniform near Chahel Uri on August 11, 2008. »

Benguluru, August 09 (KMS): Four Kashmiri students studying at a Benguluru college in Indian state of Karnataka have been barred from attending their nursing classes for growing beard.

The students, three from the first year, B.Sc (Nursing) and one from second-year faced the discrimination after Priyadarshini joined the college — the Adarsh College of Nursing in Mariyappana, Mallathahalli as the new principal nearly a month ago. »
