Indian obduracy main obstacle in Kashmir settlement: Gilani » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Gurez, Rafiabad and all the martyrs of preceding week has said that Indian stubbornness is a main obstacle in peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, urged the UN Secretary General to intervene for resolution of the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Commission to take cognizance of the plight of detenues lodged in different Indian jails, especially Udhampur District jail.

The APHC chairman condemned the harsh and inhuman attitude of the jail authorities towards the inmates and 3rd degree methods of torture on the deteunes.

“Parents and relatives of the inmates are narrating woeful stories of physical torture and all other oppressive methods of intimidation,” he said and sought help of Amnesty International and International Committee of Red Cross to probe the plight of prisoners lodged in Udhampur and other jails.

He reiterated the Kashmiris’ pledge to carry the movement for right to self-determination to its logical conclusion.
