No court can tamper with state subject laws: Mirwaiz » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, August 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that no court has the jurisdiction to tamper with the 1927 state subject laws of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a public gathering in Srinagar, today, said that the UN resolutions on Kashmir clearly stated that the people of Kashmir were to decide their final dispensation of Jammu and Kashmir by exercising right to self-determination, a right which was yet to be exercised.

The Mirwaiz said that the commitment to right to self-determination was made to people of Kashmir by the Indian prime minister himself before people of Kashmir and the world. He said Kashmir is an internationally-acknowledged dispute and people of the territory will at no cost allow dilution of the dispute till it is resolved.

He said the move of tinkering with the state subject law is aimed at undermining the dispute by changing the demography of the territory, settling outsiders here and making the locals a minority in their own land.

The Mirwaiz said that Hurriyat leadership was urgently deliberating upon the issue and was taking all segments of the society on board to launch a massive protest agitation to counter the onslaught against the Kashmiris. He said no effort will be spared to safeguard the interests of people of Kashmir and disputed nature of the territory. He said the tremendous sacrifices offered by the Kashmiris speak volumes about their courage and determination.

Meanwhile, a protest march was conducted by the leaders and activists of Awami Action Committee outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar in support of the Article 35-A.
